About That’s My Dawg
Graylnn and Katlyn Moran started That’s My Dawg as a food truck, and boy they have turned that into an amazing restaurant, food truck, and even catering business, just opening in January 2022.
Baseball-themed, the vibe is just…well…happy and welcoming. Upbeat country music plays in the background, and you can tell the staff love working there. The owners are hands-on with the business, both husband and wife were there to greet us, and Graylnn actually sat down with us, and brought us a basket of macaroni and cheese bites.
Macaroni and Cheese Bites
Graylnn brought us some mac and cheese bites as a starter. These crispy morsels of cheesy goodness were a cheese lover’s dream come true, and the tomato basil dipping sauce just made this grilled cheese and tomato soup lover’s day! As you bite into these golden brown nuggets, the cheese, accompanied by the dipping sauce makes your tastebuds dance! Thank you, Graylnn, for introducing us to those! I could go on all day about that amazing appetizer!
Not a great photo, but check out that cheese just oooooooooooooooozing out!
G-Dawg (we added the jalapenos) with Fries
Allen ordered the G-Dawg, and in true Allen style, he added jalapeños. The G-Dawg is their famous hot dog, topped with mustard, ketchup, chili, cheese, and onions, hugged by a soft, fresh, beautiful bun.
The slap your mama kind of chili was probably the best hot dog chili we have ever had, and it was soooooooo meaty!
The crinkle fries were amazingly crisp, yet tender and fluffy inside. I’m not sure what they season their fries with (seasoned salt?) but they were so yummy that we couldn’t stop eating them.
Slaw-ter Dawg with Onion Rings
I LOVE coleslaw. When I was a kid, I HATED coleslaw. Don’t know what happened there, but now, I freaking crave it sometimes. I ordered the Slaw-ter Dawg, obviously. So you know how sometimes you get slaw out, and it’s mushy? Watery? Yeah. Not at That’s My Dawg. Every morning, Graylnn makes it FRESH so that no one will have mushy slaw. Thank you, Graylnn. It was AMAZING. Fresh, crunchy, beautiful flavor. Kudos to you!
Now, back to the Dawg. So this Dawg is topped with mustard, chili, slaw, and onions. To me, this is the perfect Dawg! The exquisite ratios of each topping built the most fabulous Slaw Dawg I have ever eaten. Not kidding. The chili, as I already said, was DEEEE—-LISSSSSSHHHHHH——USSSSSS! (Yes, I know how to spell that word LOL)!
The onion rings. Good Lord. The onion rings. These crispy gold brown battered halos of yumminess were just simply delicious. The perfect amount of crisp, and they had an actual ring of onion inside! I’m so tired of ordering onion rings that are BREADED, ugh, or even worse, have no onion whatsoever in them, just batter made with onion powder or something. Ugh. These O-rings were made the way O-Rings should be….just saying.
Sausage Dog
Okay, so we’re not spelling this the other way on purpose! The Sausage Dog is split and grilled open-faced, and finally, topped with mustard, and a slew of peppers and onions. And Graylnn is right! Splitting the sausage, and then grilling does make it so it’s not soggy in the middle, AND adds that grill flavor that can’t be beat!
We can’t wait to go for wing night, Filet Mignon night, and everything else! Make sure to watch the video to get the whole experience, and learn so much more about That’s My Dawg! They have so many things going on, so so much more food that we have to try, we can’t wait for our next visit!
Bottom line is that we will definitely, absolutely be back. And so should you, because if love hot dogs, Charleston, you’re gonna love That’s My Dawg!
