Now…Here’s what’s going on in the Charleston Lowcountry this Weekend!
So this weekend is Juneteenth, and there is a HUGE 2-day celebration going on at the Coastal Carolina Fairgrounds! It’s gonna be HUGE! It’s called the Root of Soul, and there are going to be some really great performers, like Ranky Tanky, Kid Capri, and Keke Wyatt. There are going to be tons of food trucks, too, from seafood, Booze Pops, Sweet and Spice, and SO much more! You aren’t going to want to miss this HUGE Junteenth event!
J19th Fest is an immersive, two-day festival to celebrate African American emancipation and the vibrant culture that grew from that celebratory event. This fun, unifying festival will educate, uplift, and reaffirm pride in African American attendees, while helping raise money for Grace Impact Development Center (GIDC), to help fund local nonprofits and forces that will help empower the Berkeley County and Greater Charleston communities.
FREE BEER! Hey! I know THAT got some of you to read this! LOL! So, according to statistics, the 20-24 age group is the least vaccinated group of individuals to get the vaccine. So, DHEC has teamed up with the South Carolina Brewers Guild to bring the “Shot with a Chaser” program to get folks vaccinated.
This weekend, there are two sites: Thursday the 17th, you can go to Tideland Brewing in North Charleston from 4:00 to 7:00, and get your shot and a free beer, (and then head to Dig in the Park to see Double Shot play from 7:00-9:00)! Friday, the 18th, you can go to Commonhouse Aleworks in North Charleston from 4:00 to 7:00, get your vaccine, and grab a free beer. Cool, right? DHEC encourages everyone who partakes in the free beer to drink responsibly and follow any local mask requirements or other safety precautions. Everyone receiving their immunization will be monitored for at least 15 minutes after getting their shot. No proof of medical insurance will be needed.
Remember back in the day where Dads would take their Daughters to a dance? Well guess what? It’s back! There is a Daddy-Daughter dance at Lovegrove Estate in Summerville from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Take your Princess to the Ball, and make memories for a lifetime.
Prom for Grown-Ups!
Did you miss your Prom? Do you just want a do-over? Go to Prom by the Pond, and have an amazing time! The Dorchester Shriner Club and Dorchester Paws is presenting this 21 and over, formal event to show you a wonderful time, while raising money for the furbabies! Too shy or want to surprise your potential date? They have a really cool PawProsal that will surprise him or her! There will be dancing, of course, but food, auctions, open wine and beer bar, and so much more. Check it out!
Father’s Day Ideas!
Father’s Day Idea for the Fam: Take your Dad on a day trip to Myrtle Beach for Father’s Day! If you are, you can enjoy a day at the beach, listen to some live music at Ocean Annie’s right at the beach, and then take your Dad to the Riverdogs game and cheer for OUR team against Myrtle Beach!
Lunch for Father’s Day: If you’re ready to celebrate the dad in your life this weekend, this post is for you! Not sure what to do? Here are the Charleston Lowcountry’s best places for Father’s Day lunch! I would definitely check out one of these amazing restaurants: Shuckin Shack in Summerville, Fleet Landing downtown Charleston, Azul Mexicano in Park Circle, or try the Barony House in Moncks Corner. What are your plans for the day?
