Are you ready to what’s going on in the Charleston Lowcountry This Weekend? I am!
Oh my goodness, from the Flowertown Festival in Summerville to Barbecue, Mustangs, and Corn Mazes, I’m super excited! I have to tell you…I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat, and have avoided Boone Hall Fright Nights, but I think I’m going to go this year….I’ll let you know how THAT goes…THIS is what’s going on in the Charleston Lowcountry This Weekend!
Flowertown Festival
Finally! The Flowertown Festival is this weekend! We have ALL been waiting for this, right? It’s been postponed and postponed and postponed……
Flowertown Festival is a cornerstone festival in the Charleston Lowcountry. Held in the Flower Town in the Pines, the birthplace of Sweet Tea, Summerville has hosted this festival for 48 years, and it is always a huge get-together for not only Lowcountry folks, but people come from all over the world to enjoy this 3-day extravaganza!
There are over 200 artists who display and sell their works, farmers’ markets, fun stuff for the kids at the Children’s Jubilee/Kids Fest, live music, tons of food trucks, vendors, and so much more! Flowertown Festival takes up a huge chunk of main street, including Hutchinson Square, and of course, all the downtown shoppes and restaurants are going to be open!
Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch
In true Fall Lowcountry Fashion, the Boone Hall Pumpkin patch and West Farm Corn Maze is open again!
Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch is celebrating the Pumpkin Patch’s 25th year this year! This famous Boone Hall event is open every weekend the entire month of October and is located off of Highway 17 North in Mount Pleasant on Long Point Rd.
We are so excited, because from the family friendly monster hayride to the petting zoo and corn maze, and more, all the events are open again this year! This promises to be the best ever! Admission is $12 for ages 12 and up. Check the website for hours, but generally, they are open from either 10 a.m or noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The address is 1235 Long Point Road, Mount Pleasant.
West Farm Corn Maze
West Farm Corn Maze was open last year, so we were able to get our Maze in there last year, but it will be even better this year! This year’s theme is Waterfowl (birds of water), and they have two mazes—one that is 2.9 miles for the pro, and one that is 0.4 miles for the kids/newbies!
West Farm Corn maze has tons of things to do for the kids and kids at heart, from animals, to food trucks and vendors, kids play and activity areas, decorate your punkin, to apple slingshot….RIGHT? Apple Slingshot! Gonna have to try that this year!
You can get to the corn maze by taking exit 194—the Jedburg Exit—off of I-26, and just keep on going down Highway 176. It’s well marked, but the address for your GPS is 2641 Cooper Store Road in Moncks Corner. They are open Wednesdays through Sundays through the entire month of October, but check their website for exact hours, as they vary from day to day.
Barbecue Cook-Off
Barbecue Cook-Off! The Moncks Corner Lions Club is hosting their annual Berkeley BBQ Cookoff on Friday, October 8, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be live music, raffles including one for a RecTeq wood-fired grill! “We Serve” is the motto of the Lions Club. They do a lot for the community, so come on out and support your local Lions Club!
Chile Roast!
Hot Roasted Chiles! Do you like hot roasted chiles? Then you need to get down to Lewis Barbecue on Sunday (October 10) from 1-4, because pitmaster John Lewis is going to be hosting his annual chile roast! John will be transporting these chiles himself from New Mexico to roast them up just for you. Chiles will be available for pickup and there will also be tasting at this event! Lewis Barbecue is located at 464 North Nassau Street in Charleston.
While you’re there, grab his Sunday special, Chicken Fried Steak, which consists of “Texas sized chicken fried steak, green chile gravy, mashed potatoes and two sides,” for $18.95. You don’t want to miss this!
Classic Mustang Show
Mustangs, Mustangs and More Mustangs! Luxe Espresso and Wine Bar is hosting Classic Mustangs of the Lowcountry on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00. Come out and check out all these gorgeous cars, watch your fave football team play, and enjoy some munchies and beer, coffee or wine!
There are tons of things happening this weekend, and I know you will definitely find SOMETHING to do! If you need further suggestions or would like to know more about any of these events or others going on in the Lowcountry, just email me! Check in just about every Friday to find out what’s going on in the Charleston Lowcountry This Weekend!
